Soon after DMK Supremo M Karunanidhi announced his plan to withdraw the party's support to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government in centre, his rival and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said that the pull out is a drama by Karunanidhi.
In a statement, she said that the attempt is to reduce the blame on Karunanidhi on his inaction in the Sri Lankan Tamilian issue. His plans would not succeed and the people of the State would teach him a lesson, she said. She added that the people are fed up with the dramas of Karunanidhi.
Getting into the details of the DMK's demand to the Indian parliament to issue a resolution that the Sri Lanka's action was a genocide, she said that it would not be of use and the amendments has to be brought in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) meeting which picks up the US sponsored resoltuion. A strong resolution in UNHRC is a way to bring in action against Sri Lanka.
She also blamed that the DMK chief did not try and do anything like pulling out from the ministry or the alliance in 2009, when the war in Sri Lanka was in its peak and Karunanidhi was in power in the State along with representatives in central government.
