Meteorological Dept issues warning for TN, Puducherry and coastal AP

Starting Monday very heavy or extremely heavy rains expected

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning for very heavy or extremely heavy rains for the coming Monday in Tamilnadu & Puducherry and for Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

It may be noted, already over the last five days heavy rain already claimed over 55 people lives in Tamil Nadu.

A low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood is causing Heavy rains at isolated places over Coastal Tamilnadu, Pudducherry and Kerala today, according to PIB release.

The Indian Meteorological Department meanwhile has advised fishermen not to venture into sea along and off Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and South coastal Andhra Pradesh coasts during next 48 hours.

 

Heavy rain would occur tomorrow at isolated places over south Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu & Pondicherry, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

"On Monday too, heavy to very heavy rain would occur at a few places, with extremely heavy falls at isolated places over Tamilnadu & Puducherry. Heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places are also expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and heavy rains over Rayalaseema, South Interior Karnataka and Kerala," said in the statement.
