Senior IRS officer K V Chowdary is new CBDT chairman

Indian Revenue Service officer K V Chowdary has been appointed as chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the top body of the income tax department.
Chowdary, a 1978-batch officer, on Friday took charge at his North block office in the finance ministry. He will have a tenure of only three months. His name was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
