TN sets up new buildings, facilities across state

Chief minister J Jayalalithaa has inaugurated buildings and facilities worth Rs 171.49 crore across the state.

The facilities include 10,449 group houses, 31 panchayat union offices, 150 public distribution shops, kitchen halls, schools, anganwadi centres, women self-help group centres, primary health centres, overhead tanks and nine bridges.

These inaugurations were held last week along with the panchayat union office building at Thanthoni in Karur district, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 1.42 crore.

According to an official release, 32 buildings to house panchayat union offices in Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Kanchipuram, Karur, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Nagapattinam, Namakkal, Ramanathapuram, Salem, Thanjavur, Tirunelveli, Tiruvannamalai, Tuticorin, Vellore and Virudhunagar districts were opened. The facilities were constructed at a cost of Rs 48.70 crore.
 

Besides, there were 55 Panchayat Board offices constructed at a cost of Rs 4.24 crore in the districts of Ariyalur, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Kanchipuram, Karur, Krishnagiri, Nagapattinam, Perambalur, Salem, Sivagangai, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Thiruvallur, Tiruvarur and Virudhunagar.

The 10,449 group houses have been constructed at a cost of Rs 104.49 crore. Six bridges were constructed in Nagapattinam district and one bridge each in Tiruchirapalli, Tiruvarur and Villupuram districts, the release stated.
