35% votes cast by noon in Manipur

About 35% of 0.8 million voters cast their votes by noon in prestigious Inner Manipur parliamentary constituency in the second phase Lok Sabha polls today, election office said.

Sources said polling was continuing amid tight security in all 970 polling stations spread across four valley districts of Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishenpur.

About 40% votes were cast by noon in Thoubal district from where Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh hails, 30% in Bishenpur, 35% in Imphal East and Imphal west district each.

The polling which began at 7 am will end at 4 pm, they said, adding that voters who enter the polling stations before 4 pm would be allowed to cast their votes even after the deadline.
