Taking leaf out of Niyamgiri development, Congress activists in Chhattisgarh wants party general secretary Rahul Gandhi to play the similar role here in the mineral rich state.
A Congress worker from the industrial town of Raigarh vent his fury against the industry and his own party functionaries for allegedly ignoring the cause of poor farmers and villagers. And the workers outburst came before Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress leader was here on a day long visit to the Chhattisgarh capital on Friday. Gandhi attended a number of party programmes that included conventions of panchayat representatives, youth Congress and student wing activists.
But the serious issue came up during the youth Congress convention. A party worker from the industrial town of Raigarh raised voice against the land acquisition in the state for industrial use. He alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Chhattisgarh has ignored all the norms to give undue favours to the industries.
The party worker was so agitated on the issue that he did not spare even the senior Congress leaders from Chhattisgarh.
“We have been bringing the issue to the notice of senior Congress leaders, but they are not paying any heed and are ignoring it,” the Congress activist said.
