Govt mulling MSME policy: Kalraj Mishra

'Lot of problems can be solved by making separate policy for MSME'

Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Kalraj Mishra today said his ministry was mulling a separate policy for the MSME sector.

“Big problem before the MSME is till today industrial policy is MSME policy; MSME does not have policy of its own,” he told reporters after inaugurating the Centre of Excellence for supporting the MSMEs at Indian Institute of Science campus here. Mishra said: “Looking at the problems of the entrepreneurs I and my ministry feel that there should be separate policy for MSME.” “Lot of problems can be solved by making separate policy for MSME,” he added.
 

The minister said, his ministry has invited all MSME related associations for a meeting on June 26 in Delhi to discuss the various issues faced by the sector. He said: “we will hear their complaints, problems, suggestions- which will help in making the policy also.” Pointing out that the Prime Minister has said there will be single window system, Mishra said: “We will try to implify things we are thinking of doing it in an integrated way, in the near future things will emerge before you.”

Stating that his ministry was giving priority to skill development, Mishra said: “We can eradicate poverty through this process. We are also trying entering into to villages, and areas that have economic imbalance where there are unemployed and unskilled youth.” “Our aim is to involve them,” he added.
