Indore becomes only city to have both IIM and IIT

Union Human Resources Development Minister today laid the foundation stone of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Simrol, 25 km from here.

The institute will come up on 525 acres of land at in five years time.

IIT-Indore's academic session for 2009-10 will begin at the Institute of Engineering and Technology of here till it is shifted to its own building.

Mumbai's Director and Registrar in the same capacities will look after as well, till new appointments to these posts are made.

With the laying of foundation stone, has become the only city in the country to have both and Indian Institute of Management (IIM).
