M L Meena takes over as KoPT chairman

M L Meena, an IAS officer, became chairman of the Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) from June 16. Meena’s career includes a stint as principal secretary, Environment Department and Disaster Management Department, in Government of West Bengal before KoPT. Meena also worked as director (port development), ministry of shipping, Government of India. Significantly, he has also served as deputy chairman of the Haldia Dock Complex for four years. Meena’s appointment as chairman, with his experience, is being seen as a milestone in the development of KoPT including the dock system and Haldia Dock Complex.
