Major fire accident at TTPS

A major fire broke out at a Talcher Thermal Power Station (TTPS) unit on Tuesday as its conveyor belt caught fire near the coal handling plant of Jaganath coal mine, run by MCL. TTPS source said the fire accident might have been caused due to the deposit of coal at the belt and the presence of a garage near the belt could be source of fire. In the accident, the conveyor belt got burnt up to 200 meters before it was controlled by fire tenders. However, the incident did not affect coal supply to the NTPC power plant as the service was restored with an alternative route.
