Mining engg national meet in Nagpur from today

The mining engineers from across the country would hold discussions on environmental and allied issues during a national conference to be held here from tomorrow.

Mining Engineers Association of India's local chapter, with support from Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), is hosting the three-day conference here on 'Challenges in 21st century mining-Environment and allied issues' to discuss threadbare impact of mining activities on pollution of air, water, land, soil quality, bio-diversity including forest eco-system and human health. Indian mineral industry has enormous potential and opportunities and with growth of economy, would require increasingly higher quality of basic raw materials, conference's principal convener and IBM Controller General C S Gundewar told reporters on Monday.
