Odisha reiterates green tax demand

The state government on Thursday reiterated its demand for levy of green tax on mining at the Empowered Committee (EC) of State Finance Ministers meeting held at New Delhi for introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

As the producing states would not benefit on the implementation of GST in place of VAT, provisions should be made to levy green tax by the loss making states like Odisha, said Prasanna Acharya, state finance minister at the meeting.
