On the eve of his departure for the 16th Saarc summit in Thimphu, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh promised that India would “play its part in the resurgence of South Asia.”

Pointing out that “South Asia cannot be immune to the trend of greater integration, both at the regional and global levels,” the PM said that if “we, as South Asians work together, there is nothing we cannot achieve.”

The PM said that SAFTA, the Saarc Development Fund and the South Asian University were concrete examples of regional projects that would enable greater economic linkages and promote people to people interaction in the region.
