In a bid to promote diamond, gems and jewellery trade amid ongoing global recession, the diamond city of the country-Surat is hosting a three-day exhibition-cum-conference named “Sparkle”, starting December 26.
The international conference will have around 250 foreign as well as domestic business delegates. Delegates from Antwerp, New York, Italy, Hong Kong and other countries will participate in the event, which will also have buyer-seller meet.
Among other things, speakers at the conference, being organized as part of ensuing Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit-2009, will also express their views on global recession.
The conference will have prominent speakers from World Gold Council and Diamond Trading Company (DTC). “This is for the first time such a big event has been organized in Surat for the promotion of diamond, gems and jewellery industry. It will offer a platform to buyers and sellers to further strengthen their business relations”, said Chetan Shah, president, Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Insdustry (SGCCI), which one of the main sponsors of the event.
