The Reserve Bank of India, in its annual policy statement for 2008-09, has said that it will introduce currency futures in eligible exchanges in consultation with the capital markets regulator, Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi).

		</script> </DIV><p class='TableClas'>The broad framework is expected to be finalised by the end of May 2008. An RBI-Sebi Standing Technical committee has been set up to advise on the operational aspects with regard to the trading of currency futures on the exchanges.</P>
</p><p class='TableClas'>Last year, the draft report of the internal working group on the introduction of currency futures in India had been placed on the RBI website for comments. The final report was put up on April 28.</P></p><p class='TableClas'></p></table>
