Many reasons have been put forth for Saturday being declared as a day on which trading and settlement of securities will be closed.

It will also bring about integration of the various financial markets and remove any pricing inefficiencies across markets.

The other reasons are that on Saturdays government securities are traded only for two hours, the Reserve Bank of India
