BHEL, JP Associates gain 8%; breadth +ve

The Nifty is up 71 points at 3,997.

BHEL and Jaiprakash (JP) Associates have zoomed over 8% to Rs 1,511 and Rs 150, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure and DLF have soared 7% each to Rs 774 and Rs 408, respectively.

Reliance Communications has rallied 5.5% to Rs 411. Larsen & Toubro has gained nearly 5% at Rs 2,342.

ITC has moved up 4.5% to Rs 177. Ranbaxy and Mahindra & Mahindra have advanced 3.7% each to Rs 533 and Rs 485, respectively.

HDFC is up 3.3% at Rs 1,999. ACC, Hindalco, Reliance, Tata Motors and ICICI Bank are the other major gainers.

 

Tata Steel has slipped over 3% to Rs 637. Cipla is up 15 at Rs 209.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,468 stocks traded, 1,358 have advanced, 1,037 declined.
