NHPC gains after Q2 net surges 73%

Net profit for Sep 2015 increased 73% to Rs 1,181 crore

Shares of NHPC were up 3% at Rs 18.35 on the Bombay Stock Exchange after the company reported 73% rise in standalone net profit at Rs 1,181 crore compared with Rs 684.1 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

Net sales for the quarter increased nearly 12% to Rs 2334.2 crore compared with Rs 2,086 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2014.

The stock opened at Rs 18.45 and touched a high of Rs 18.80. At 12:40pm, nearly 6 million shares were traded on both the stock exchanges.
