Potato futures fall 2.82% on sluggish demand

Potato prices fell by Rs 19.30 to Rs 666.30 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators offloaded their positions, driven by sluggish demand in the spot market.
Increased arrivals from producing regions in the physical market also put pressure on the potato futures prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in April contract fell by Rs 19.30, or 2.82 per cent, to Rs 666.30 per quintal, with a business turnover of three lots.
Similarly, the potato for delivery in May declined by Rs 17.80, or 2.47 per cent, to Rs 703 per quintal, with an open interest of two lots.
Traders attributed the fall in potato futures prices to offloading of positions by speculators along with sluggish demand in the spot market.
