Sensex up 79pts; breadth still -ve

The Sensex has gained 79 points and is now at 14,123.

The index pared gains in the last hour and is trading amid volatility. The BSE-index touched a high of 14,251 and a low of 14,000, so far.

ITC have soared 7% to Rs 211.

Maruti Suzuki have rallied 5% to Rs 1,086.

Grasim, Hero Honda and Mahindra & Mahindra have advanced 4.5% each to Rs 2,406, Rs 1,421 and Rs 743, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates and ICICI Bank have gained 3.5% each at Rs 200 and Rs 701, respectively.

Reliance and Reliance Communications have declined over 2% each to Rs 1,851 and Rs 263, respectively.

ONGC and Tata Motors have slipped 1.5% each to Rs 1,051 and Rs 278, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly negative -out of 2,431 shares, 1,514 have declined and 844 have advanced.
