The decision on the tender would be taken by June 18, the company said on its website. Urad and arhar offered for sale are imported from Myanmar, while chana and dunpeas from Australia.
Interested trader should bid for a minimum quantity of 500 tonnes, STC said. To meet the domestic demand, the government had announced to import 1.5 million tonnes of pulses in 2007-08 and the public sector trading agencies have been able to contract nearly 1.4 million tonnes of pulses, including 0.9 million tonnes of yellow peas till May 6, 2008. Out of these contracted pulses, 1.19 million tonnes have already arrived in the country.
Of the total arrival, 1.05 million tonnes have been sold in the domestic market. During the current fiscal, the government has announced to import 1.5 million tonnes of pulses.
