Unitech, DB Realty tanks on heavy volumes

Shares of Unitech and DB Realty have tanked more than 20% each in early morning deals on back of heavy volumes.

Unitech
has plunged 21% to Rs 27.85 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on reports that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) suspects its own prosecutor of aiding Unitech, managing director Sanjay Chandra, one of the accused in the 2G case.

“The CBI has registered a Preliminary Enquiry report, which names the lead 2G prosecutor AK Singh. The CBI Preliminary Enquiry Report also names Unitech MD Sanjay Chandra,” the CNN-IBN report suggests.

As many as a combined 58 million shares have already changed hands on the counter till 1000 hours against an average 40 million shares that were traded daily in past two weeks on NSE and BSE.

DB Realty, the Mumbai-based real estate developer, has also dipped 20% to Rs 98.80 on back of almost five-fold jump in trading volumes.

A combined 4.84 million shares have already changed hands on the counter so far against an average sub 1 million shares that were traded daily in past two weeks.
