Somalia's Islamic extremist group Al-Shabaab has threatened Kenya of further attacks, similar to the recent one on Garissa University College, which witnessed the death of around 150 people.

According to the SITE intelligence monitoring group, al-Shabaab said the Garissa assault was in retaliation to the killings of rebels in Somalia by the Kenyan troops. The group also said that the Kenyan cities will "run red in blood," News24 reported.

In a statement issued on Shabaab-affiliated websites and Twitter accounts, the Islamic extremists have warned that it will be a "long, gruesome war" with its first causalities being the Kenyan people.

It was also stated that no security measure would be able to guarantee people's safety in Kenya.
