American Idol Jennifer Hudson stays strong through troubled family life

Jennifer Hudson has been staying strong despite her troubled family life, it has been revealed.

The 32-year-old singer's half brother, Stephen Simpson, is being held in custody for allegedly stabbing a love rival recently at her apartment in Michigan, the Mirror reported.

The 'Spotlight' singer's brother-in-law, William Belfour, was put behind the bars for Hudson's mother, brother and seven year old nephew in 2012.

In 2013, the 'Dreamgirls' star landed a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
