Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari has presented the Pandit Haridutt Sharma Award to Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dr. Veerappa Moily.
Commending Moily's achievements as a distinguished literary figure and for his decades of public service to Karnataka and to the nation, Ansari said it is appropriate that the Pandit Haridutt Sharma Award has been conferred upon Moily.
"His knowledge and skills in governance and administration were recognized by the Government of India as he was appointed as Chairman of the Second Administrative Reforms Commission.
Wishing him many more years of service to the nation and all success in his endeavors, Ansari opined that the books written by Dr. Moily should be translated into all Indian languages for wider reach among masses so that they can understand old traditions in the present context.
The vice president said that Pandit Haridutt Sharma was himself a renowned Hindi journalist, besides being a social worker and an active political leader.
He applauded the Pandit Haridutt Sharma Memorial Trust for honoring distinguished personalities in the field of journalism, literature and social service as a tribute to the legacy of Pandit Sharma.
