Workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) women wing staged protest against the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party Government over the rising crime graph in the state.
The state leader of the BJP's Mahila Morcha', Romana Sidiqqui told ANI, "In every region, nook and corner women are being harassed. There is a huge rise in the number of rape cases in the state. The government in power doesn't seem to be helpful in this regard."
"To lower the number of rape cases, strict law needs to be implemented against such offences. We are protesting against the same in front of Vidhan Sabha so that the government gets a wakeup call," she added.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers protested last week also, against the state government's inability to maintain law and order and its failure to reduce the increasing crime rate.
The worsening law and order condition in Uttar Pradesh was recognized specially after the rape and murder of two Dalit cousins in Badaun last month. This crime caught the eyeballs of the international media as well.
