Pop star Britney Spears' 36th birthday was made extra special by her boyfriend Sam Asghari.

Spears, who celebrated her special day on December 2, received a romantic surprise from her 23-year-old beau.

The 'Love Me Down' singer took to Instagram to share a video of herself donning a black mini-dress, blowing out candles placed on a handful of cupcakes.

"Couldn't ask for a better way to kick off my birthday," she captioned the video.

On her birthday, the 'Make Me...' singer also paid homage to Madonna with a performance.
