Cisse sparks controversy by visiting casino against Muslim laws

Newcastle footballer, Papiss Cisse, has been criticised for visiting a casino as gambling is considered unethical by Muslims.

Earlier, Cisse had refused to wear the loan company Wonga-branded strip as he believed that the team's sponsor clashed with his Muslim belief of charging interest on loans, the BBC reports.

However, the Senegal striker was spotted at Aspers Casino in the city in November.

His agent, Madou Diene, said that he was not a gambler, but a Muslim councillor said Cisse would be letting Muslims down by visiting a casino.

Cisse has pulled out from a pre-season trip to Portugal saying that he was not prepared to promote the pay-day loans company, citing his religion, and instead offered to wear an unbranded strip.
