Climbing route to Mount Everest to be changed due to increased avalanche risk

The climbing route to Mount Everest used by mountaineers will be changed due to fears of an increased avalanche risk.

According to BBC, Nepal will change the route next month following a deadly collapse that took the lives of 16 mountaineers.

The current path to Mount Everest has been in use since 1990s.

The new route will be through a more central path that will avoid the left side of the Khumbu Icefall where the last year's accident took place.

The government of Nepal seeks to improve safety measures at the start of the 2015 spring climbing season.
