Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday promised that if brought to power in the upcoming elections in Maharashtra, the Bharatiya Janata Party would provide the people of the state with essential skills, adding that the Congress party had only scammed the state.
Addressing a rally here, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Since coming to power, the Congress party has only given you scam Maharashtra. If brought into power, we will give you skilled Maharashtra."
The Prime Minister asked the assembled people to help the BJP win the upcoming elections by a majority, adding that if two parties come to power via an alliance, it may lead to a blame game between the parties involved over various issues. "If a government is formed in Maharashtra in an alliance, the parties involved will keep blaming each other for everything. This is why it is important to make a party win by a full majority," he said.
Narendra Modi also said that with the Congress being in power for 15 years in the state, two generations have suffered the corruption in the state government. "Should we let the loot go on? The damage that a state incurs over a period of 15 years will affect two generations," he said.
Prime Minister Modi also identified the Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) project as essential for the development of the Vidarbha region. "Under the Congress-NCP government, the MIHAN file took ten years to travel a mere 500 metres (for approvals). Do you want this debacle to come back? The success of MIHAN can change Vidarbha's fortunes. I assure you that we will complete the work and inaugurate it during our term," he said.
Maharashtra will go to polls on October 15. The counting of votes will take place on October 19.
