Delegation-level talks between India and Sri Lanka have ended and a joint statement reflecting the bilateral agreements inked between the two sides is expected to be announced.
Prime Minister Modi, who is on a two-day visit to the island-nation, will be addressing the Sri Lankan Parliament later in the day.
He has visited the Maha Bodhi Society, and is attending a lunch hosted by Prime Minister Ranil Wickeramasinghe.
This morning, he was accorded a traditional ceremonial welcome by Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat.
He arrived at the secretariat in a convoy led by a horse-driven buggy.
President Sirisena introduced his cabinet led by Prime Minister Wickeremasinghe, and other senior officials to Prime Minister Modi.
The two leaders then retired for a brief one-on-one interaction, which was followed by the delegation-level talks and opening statements by both leaders.
