A special court in Dhaka deferred the hearing in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case filed against Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia and fixed January 5 as the next date of hearing.

Special Judge Court-3 Justice Abu Ahmed Jomadar passed the order on Thursday, reports Dhaka Tribune.

Khaleda appeared before the court today in connection with the Zia Charitable Trust graft case.

The BNP chief was asked by the court earlier on December 15 to appear before it on December 22.

She did not appear in the court on December 15 to give her self-defence statements due to physical illness.

Earlier, the statements were given by a total of 32 prosecution witnesses, including complainant of the case before the court on different dates.

The Zia Charitable Trust graft case was filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission's Deputy Director Harun-or-Rashid with the Tejgaon police station on August 8, 2011, accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia.
