Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski has reportedly denied rumours that he has agreed to sign a contract with Bayern Munich next season, giving rise to Manchester United's hopes for signing him.

Lewandowski will be out-of-contract at Dortmund at the end of this season and had reportedly said that he plans to sign a pre-contract deal to join Bayern.

According to Metro.co.uk, however, the Poland international has denied that he has agreed to join the German giants, saying that although he still has plans to quit Dortmund, he is yet to choose a new club.

Stating that he was 'shocked' on hearing about the reports, Lewandowski also said that he had only intended to answer questions about his future and had not made any statement regarding a move to Bayern, adding that he cannot say anything until the January transfer window.

Although Bayern is confident that they will be able to secure Lewandowski's signature in the new year with a view to him joining on a free transfer next summer, however, the report said that United boss David Moyes, after having his hopes boosted, would offer mammoth wages in a bid to convince Lewandowski to move to Old Trafford.
