Former West Indies captain and current team manager Richie Richardson has lauded South African batsman A.B. de Villiers, saying that that the 'man is a master'.

De Villiers scored his 21st Test ton to set South Africa up for a first innings lead of 92 runs on the third day of the third Test against the West Indies at Newlands on Sunday.

The batsman was last man out for 148 off 194 balls, hitting 15 fours and a six, as he attempted to hit Marlon Samuels out of the ground, Sport24 reported.

It was De Villiers' sixth century against West Indies and his third at Newlands and in the process he became the third batsman after Jacques Kallis and Graeme Smith to score 1,000 Test runs at the famous ground.

Richardson praised De Villiers, saying that the man is a master, adding that one would like to see the South African bat because he's so good, but claimed that from West Indies' perspective, one obviously doesn't want to see the batsman at the crease for too long.
