Famed oceanographer Jacques Cousteau's grandson has revealed that he plans to follow in his grandpa's footsteps and stay underwater.

Cousteau and a team of aquanauts had made a world record by living undersea for 30 days in the Conshelf underwater living experiment in 1963, CBS News reported.

Now, Fabian Cousteau wants to beat his grandfather's record and live underwater for 31 days with six fellow aquanauts at the Aquarius Reef Base as a launching pad to explore the neighboring coral reef.

The 81-ton and 9 by 40 foot underwater lab is located 63 feet below the surface at the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.
