First openly transgender official hired for White House

The White House has hired a full-time transgender member of staff for the first time, officials have confirmed.
According to the BBC, Raffi Freedman-Gurspan has started working as an outreach and recruitment director for presidential staff.
A senior White House official said that her commitment to transgender rights reflects "the values of this administration".
It is US President Barack Obama's latest move in support of LGBT rights.
