Indian justification not different from Pak: Omar on Aseemanand

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Wednesday hinted that the Indian justification of granting bail to Swami Aseemanand was no different to Pakistan justifying bail for Mumbai attacks mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi.

Abdullah took to his Twitter page to say, "How is the Indian justification of bail for #Aseemanand any different from the Pakistani justification of bail for #Lakhvi."

The Union Home Ministry had yesterday informed the Lok Sabha that the NIA, upon examining the feasibility of filing a Special Leave Petition, found no grounds to challenge the conditional bail granted to Aseemanand by the Punjab and Haryana High Court last year in the Samjhauta blasts case.

The Samjhauta Express, a bi-weekly train between Delhi and Lahore, was bombed in February 2007 just as it passed Panipat in Haryana.

Of the nearly 70 people who were killed, most of them were Pakistanis.

A lower court in Islamabad had earlier this year granted bail to LeT terrorist and 26/11 key accused Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi.
