IPS officer Amitabh Thakur has alleged that Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had threatened him over the phone, asking him to 'mend his ways'.

"At around 4.45 p.m, a phone came from Mulayam Singh's residence and he talked to me. He told me that whatever had happened in Jasrana, Firozabad, where I had been assaulted by one of his relative and an MLA in 2006, much harsher things will happen to me if I don't 'mend my ways'," Thakur told ANI here.

"I think it's because my wife had complained to the Lokayukta against state Mining Minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati. Prajapati had tried to blame us for a false rape case and we collected evidence and filed an FIR against Parajapati and a few other people. This incident has happened after that," he added.

The IPS officer said he was worried about his safety and will seek security.

"I am hurt and a little worried because of this incident. But I've decided I won't leave the cadre or this place. Me and my wife don't feel safe. We will reach out and seek security," he said.
