Manchester United have officially taken the 'noisy neighbours' title from their rivals Manchester City to become Premier League's noisiest football club.

Despite Ferguson famously dubbing City the 'noisy neighbours', it would seem the tables have turned. The Sound Meter smartphone app was used to record one home and one away match for each Premier League team.

United's following did them proud, scoring a deafening 167 decibels. The so-called noisy neighbours, City, managed a meagre mid-table position, in just 11th, The Daily Star reported.

Stoke City, Tottenham Hotspur, West Bromwich Albion and Chelsea trailed United. At the opposite end of the table, the two teams in claret and blue are stuck at the bottom.

Aston Villa and West Ham United sat in the relegation zone with just 152 decibels each.

United, however, have managed the double again as their home ground, Old Trafford, is the loudest in the Premier League. Stoke's stadium, the Britainnia and the Emirates, home of Arsenal, came in second and third respectively for their match-day noisiness, the report added.
