The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday launched an attack on the Congress Party over the IC 814 hijacking, saying the latter has become adept at making allegations.

"The Congress seems to be now adept in making allegations. IC 814 incident was extremely difficult decision and all parties were consulted on it. But the congress party at that time was accused by some that they were instigating people that action should take place," BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli told ANI.

"Now you can't have the argument both ways unless the congress wants to send a message is double-faced," he added.

The Congress had earlier accused the BJP of 'pseudo-nationalism' after former Research and Analysis wing (RAW) A.S. Dulat's claims on the 1999 Kandahar hijack incident.

The IC-814, which was en route from Kathmandu to New Delhi, was hijacked by terrorist group Harkat-ul-Mujahideen and taken to Kandahar in Afghanistan.

The crisis lasted for seven days and ended after India agreed to release three militants - Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar, Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh and Maulana Masood Azhar.
