Kanpur: Engineering student commits suicide, family alleges ragging

A 20-year-old mechanical engineering student committed suicide in his polytechnic in Kanpur's Kalyanpur area after allegedly being ragged and beaten up by his seniors.

The student was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his hostel room by his roommate.

The deceased student's brother, Pradeep Vishwakarma said, "Certainly my brother was ragged in college, therefore he committed suicide."

The police and forensic team have started investigation into his death.
