Lady Gaga has been applauded for 'Sound of Music' Oscar performance on Twitter.

Crooning everything from the film's titular song to 'Climb Every Mountain,' the 28-year-old, delivered a performance that caused Twitter to switch from making memes to singing her praises, People Magazine reported.

The American singer stripped off the shining red gloves, and stepped on to the stage in a flowing, white gown.

After the tribute concluded, Julie Andrews came on stage to tell Gaga the number warmed her heart and to share a hug with the star.
