Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Majid Memon today said that the Lok Sabha elections won't have any major bearing on the forthcoming Maharshtra Assembly polls and added that his party had sounded the poll bugle on time.
"I think as far as the Maharashtra elections are concerned, then the Lok Sabha elections won't have much bearing on them because the issues and results are different," Memon told ANI adding, "It is important to start the preparations on time. The NCP is the first party which has sounded the poll bugle in Maharashtra."
Praising NCP president Sharad Pawar, Memon said that there was no other leader like him in the state.
"As for Maharashtra, everyone would agree that there is no leader like Sharad Yadav who stands tall in Maharashtra. Even Congress would agree to that if we use Sharad Yadav's following in Maharashtra then Congress and NCP would be able to rule the state," he said.
Maharashtra is slated to hold assembly elections in October this year to elect a new 288-member Maharashtra assembly.
