West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's younger brother Kartik Banerjee on Tuesday denied claims of his having assaulted a zoo staffer in the city. He further indicated that the allegations levelled against him were baseless.
"My last visit to the zoo was six-seven months ago and before that, I did not visit the zoo for the past 15 years. I came to know of these allegations levelled against me when I saw it on the news. It has now become routine for certain elements to create controversies around Mamata Banerjee," Kartik told ANI.
"I did not even know that Mamata di was going to the zoo," he added.ccording to reports, a security guard at the Alipore Zoo in the city was allegedly beaten up for denying Trinamool Congress supporters from entering the zoo without tickets when Mamata Banerjee went there to inaugurate a newly built reptile house at the zoo.
