Massive explosion demolishes a factory in Abhanpur

A massive explosion completely demolished a detonators manufacturing factory in Abhanpur, 25 kilometers from Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The incident occurred in a factory called Nav Bharat Fuse Co. Ltd. at around 3 a.m. on Friday.

The police reached the spot around 4 a.m. and surrounded the factory, anticipating violence from the families of the deceased.

Later, a team from the forensic department was sent by Police Head Quarters (PHQ) to investigate the matter.

One of the officials Shivjeet Singh said, "There is lot debris around and some 4-5 dead bodies were found. We do not know yet know the exact cause of fire, but the investigation is going on. The police department has contacted the factory's management and is in talks with them. Our first priority will be to identify and tag the dead bodies already found and to ascertain the exact death toll."

 

The factory's management has assured a sum of 2.25 lakhs to the families of the deceased.
