BrusselKale a hybrid of Brussels sprouts and Russian Red kale has been developed in the UK using old-fashioned breeding techniques.

Bob Whitaker, chief science officer for the Produce Marketing Association, said that purple haze carrot and the kale sprout was the most distinctive one they have seen since the broccolini launched in 1999, Today.com reported.

Lisa Friedrich, U.S. spokesperson for Tozer seeds house said that since there is lot of confusion regarding with the new veggie's name, it will be launched with one cohesive name.

TODAY.com senior multimedia editor Mish Whalen experimented with BrusselKale chips, and observed that the stems were chewy and looked like 'little aliens".

The new vegetable has been grown by British seed house Tozer Seeds.
