One Bangladeshi United Nations peacekeeper has reportedly been killed, while another has been injured in Mali's capital Bamako in a gun attack by militants.
The Daily Star quoted a Malian source as identifying the dead as Nilkanto Hajong and the injured person as Sirajul Islam. The attackers however, have not been indentified yet.
The source added that the authorities were seeking clarification and details and were viewing the case as a terrorist act.
The peacekeepers were shot at while travelling from Bamako Airport towards the south of the city on Monday night.
The 11,000-strong UN mission MINUSMA is considered the most dangerous mission in the world as more than 40 peacekeepers have been killed since its inception in 2013.
