Navratri, Durga Puja programmes to be featured on DD Bharati

Prasar Bharti's cultural channel DD Bharati will present two programmes on Navratri and Durga Puja.

The programmes are tilted 'Maa Ni Chundari Lehrai', which is a series of Garba presentations especially done and performed during the Navrata Festival. This programme will be shown on September 25 at 4.30 p.m., with a repeat telecast the next day at 12.30 a.m. and 8.30 a.m.

Devi Darshan will be aired on September 24 at 10.30 p.m.; with a repeat next day at 6.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m.

This is a series of dance ballets and a documentary celebrating Durgaostav. The Durga Puja festival is a ten-day-long festival that starts on Mahalaya (the day of the new moon) - the first day when Goddess Durga is believed to have come into the world to destroy evil. The festival ends on Dashumi - the last day when the Goddess Durga is believed to go back to her heavenly home, leaving behind the trails of happiness, goodness and purity.

 

Ramayana will be aired in the Ramkatha tradition from September 27 at 10.30 p.m.; with a repeat next day at 6.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. The Ramkatha tradition is pervasive not only in India, but throughout South East Asia.
