Nine army jawans have been reportedly washed away in the Jhelum River during rescue operations in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials say that efforts are on to rescue them.

The floods and landslides in the state have reportedly taken the total death toll to at least 100, with around 70 people left dead on Friday.

Pulwama, Anantnag and Kulgam districts in south Kashmir have been the worst hit due to the disaster.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has moved two teams from Bhathinda to Srinagar and Jammu for rescue and relief work in flood affected areas in the state.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has also reached Srinagar to take a tour of the flood-hit areas.
