Pakistan has reportedly freed 151 Indian fishermen, a day before Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony as India's prime minister.
Out of those freed, 59 were released from the district prison Malir in Karachi while 92 were released from the Nara prison in Hyderabad.
The fishermen were arrested by Pakistani coastguards for trespassing into Pakistani territorial waters.
Kamal Shah of the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum appealed to the Indian government to also release the Pakistani fishermen locked up in Indian jails for over 15 years.
He said that the Pakistan government releases so many Indian fishermen while Pakistan's people are languishing in their jails in miserable conditions, adding that the goodwill gesture such as this deserves to be reciprocated.
Legal Aid, an NGO, arranged for the fishermen's journey onboard a luxury bus to Lahore from where the fishermen are to be driven to the Wagah border crossing to cross over to India today, the report added.
